Little Heart Warriors
Little Heart Warriors was created by a group of mothers with children with severe Congenital Heart Defects. We want to share our story with others and educate our community, as well as pay it forward to help as many families during their own journey with Congenital Heart Disease. With 40,000 CHD babies born each year, CHD is the #1 birth defect in the United States.
We invite you to partner with us as we join together as a community for our Third Annual Little Heart Warriors 5K Run on March 8th 2014 at Central Park in Rancho Cucamonga. Your sponsorships will help us have a successful event, and in turn, help families facing one of the scariest times of their lives.
Little Heart Warriors Run will donate the proceeds to families at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit as well as other families in the So Cal area in surrounding hospitals. So far, we have been able to sponsor a Christmas dinner to in-patient families and we provided them with a warm home cooked meal. We have adopted families who could not afford Christmas gifts, and helped a number of families stay at hotels near the hospital so they can be in their baby’s hospital room at a moment’s notice. We are also so excited to be providing a “Heart Warrior Corner” on the Hospital’s Pediatric Cardiac Unit where we will have information, support and healthy snacks, drinks and occasionally books for families to take a breath while not having to leave their fragile child’s sight. We try to continue LLUCH’s mission to continue the healing ministry of Christ, focusing on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of children and their families…and seek to enhance the lives of our community’s children by delivering the promise of a healthier future today.
